Tally Lake Ranger District
The B.U.S. crew is spending its first three weeks in the Tally Lake Ranger district. Most of the first two weeks was spent planting trees and shrubs at timber sale sites. The plants will
provide food and cover for wildlife, especially deer and elk. Two weeks in, they have planted thousands of trees and shrubs.
During the first week they also slashed maple trees in order to encourage re-growth. The young shoots make excellent food for animals. They also improved a riparian area by placing fallen trees and logs parallel to the creek. This prevents the silt and smaller sediment from reaching the stream and disrupting egg laying fish.
This week, 6/18-6/22, will again be spent in Tally Lake.
