This past week the B.U.S. crew had the good fortune of cutting new tread for the trail that has been in the planning and fundraising stage for eight years. The area is already a favorite for local hikers, horse riders, mountain bikers, and dog walkers.
The B.U.S. crew spent the week digging new tread and smoothing tread that was previously roughed out. The crew weathered the extreme, near record-breaking heat and dusty conditions. In the end, it was their rig that broke down, which required them to tow it to the mechanic.
The crew is very pleased with the work they were able to do for the nearby communities including Kalispell. For more information about the Foys to Blacktail trail visit: http://www.foystoblacktailtrails.org/. Also the Flathead Beacon is running a story about the trail project in their Wednesday, July 18th edition. It may include pictures of the crew. The web address is http://www.flatheadbeacon.com.

Hi LaLa, Mari, Kyle, Sean, Devon, Eric and Jake, (aka B.U.S. Crew)
We have really enjoyed seeing the latest pictures of the new trail work. Obviously man is greater than machine since your equipment failed. The trail looks FANTASTIC!!!!
Our prayers are with you as you begin your longest spike of the summer. Please remember to remain alert, safe and healthy.
Love,
Mom, Joe and Macho Gram
Lola! It's so great to hear from you. I'm excited to finally see what you're doing out there...it looks great! Good luck on your 22 day-er - looks like you've got some great companions. Keep me posted!
With Love,
Katie
Sometimes I used to wish I could be a Burly Unicorn Stallion. Then last week, I got to be one for 2 hours or so! It was a dream come true.
I'm hoping to try to find them next weekend and take them some ice cold lemonade and cherries.
Libby is very hot. Lowest elevation in Montana. Almost as hot as Baghdad yesterday. Priest Lake should be cooler, hopefully. I hope to see them all soon, happy and safe!!!

Wolverines and Osprey, Cutthroat Trout and Mountain Bluebirds
They all are fans of your work, BUS crew. A Chickadee told me.
Hi Laura, Mari and Guys!!
We continue to worry about your safety as we read about the Montana wildfire only 26 miles from Whitefish. I can only trust that if you are anywhere near it that the forest service would arrive quickly.
I can't imagine how you work in this heat daily. I am continuing to assist my friend as we relay her natural stone sidewalk. In the 90 degree temperatures we last about three hours!!!!!
We haven't gone to the shores of French Creek to test your accolades and merits of creek water/sand vs. dirty clothes. You can show us after next spring's thaw!
Hurry home!
Our love and concern,
Mom and Joe
Hi Laura and all the rest of the hardworking B.U.S. crew. Thank you for the terrific work that you are doing, and thank you also for taking time to post the wonderful photos. It's a real pleasure to see the places that we could only otherwise imagine. Keep up the fine work, but take care of yourselves in the meantime. We miss you very much.
Love,
Dad and Julie
